There are a few ways to get music for your iPod:

1.) The generally most-used method is to use iTunes, which you can download from apple.com. After downloading iTunes onto your computer, you would have to visit the iTunes Store via iTunes and buy the songs you want with an Apple I.D. (If you don't have one, you are required to make one to buy music from the iTunes store) After buying the song from the iTunes Store, download the song onto your iTunes library. With the USB connector provided with every Apple iPod, you then plug in your iPod to your computer. Next, click the "Sync" button next to the device name in the left-hand column, and then wait until the sync ends. When the sync ends, the song that you want should be on your iPod. To check if the song is correctly placed into your iPod's memory, try playing the song. If there is a problem, delete the song and try syncing again.

You can repeat these steps as desired.

2.) When I get music for my iPod, I actually use a borderline-legal method to get my music for FREE. All you need is Youtube and Google. First, locate the music video/lyrics video of the song that you want click on the video as if you were to watch it. When you reach the video page, highlight the URL of the music video and left-click. Click "copy" to copy the URL. Then go to google and search "youtube to mp3 converter".Click on one of the first 5 links. (Any of the five should do) Left-click and paste the URL into the box above the button that says "Convert Video". Next, click on the button that says "Convert Video". After waiting for the website to convert the .mp4 file to an .mp3 file, (don't worry about the terminology) click on the link that says "Download". A little pop-up bar will come up at the bottom of the screen, and click the button that says "Save as". Then click on the button that says "Desktop" ( located below a blue computer screen). When the computer tells you that the song download has completed, you can open iTunes and click the subheader labeled "Music". Then drag the song that you downloaded into the music library. Then click the "Sync" button next to the device name in the left-hand column, and then wait until the sync ends. When the sync ends, the song that you want should be on your iPod. To check if the song is correctly placed into your iPod's memory, try playing the song. If there is a problem, delete the song and try syncing again.

You can repeat these steps as desired.

There are many more methods to get music for your iPod, but many of them can be legal. When I want to get music for my iPod, I have to decide whether I should support the artist by paying for the song/track, or keep a little money in my own pocket. It's all in your discretion; if you feel that Method 2 is not morally right and/or should not be legal, don't use it, and use Method 1.

Hope that helped!
